Q) Who We Are ?

A) EPCUK.org work with over 2000 Energy Assessors nationwide to provide Energy Performance Certificates throughout the UK. Our aim is provide a service that is fast, reliable and to an excellent standard and by doing so we have produced in excess of 80,000 EPCs to date.

Q) Do I need an Energy Performance Certificate – EPC?

A) From the 21st May 2010 any property that is marketed for sale or put up for rent in England and Wales
will need an EPC.

Q) Do I need an EPC before marketing my property?

A) You can only market your property once an EPC has been ordered and paid for. Failure to do so could result in a fine.

Q) What’s an EPC ?

A) An Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) is the Government’s chosen way of complying with the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD). Its purpose is to record how energy efficient a property is. The certificate will provide a rating of the energy efficiency and CO2 emissions of a building from A to G,
where
A is very efficient and G is very inefficient.

EPCs are produced using standard methods with standard assumptions about energy usage so that
the energy efficiency of one building can easily be compared with another building of the same type. This
allows prospective buyers, tenants, owners, occupiers and purchasers to see information on the energy
efficiency and CO2 emissions from their building so they can consider energy efficiency and fuel costs as
part of their investment.

An EPC is always accompanied by a recommendation report that lists cost effective and other measures
(such as low and zero carbon generating systems) to improve the energy rating of the building. The
certificate is also accompanied by information about the rating that could be achieved if all the
recommendations were implemented.

Q) How to order an EPC?

A) You can order your EPC online or over the phone.

Q) What happens once I have ordered my EPC?

A) Once you have ordered and paid for your EPC you will be contacted within 24 hours by one of our Energy Assessors that is local to you. They will arrange a time that is suitable to visit your property to carry out the EPC. The visit is then usually arranged within 2 to 3 days. Once the visit has taken place the EPC is then emailed to you and can be accessed online. Postal copies are available at request and a £5 admin charge would apply.

Q) How long until I get my EPC?

A) The whole process from ordering your EPC to receiving it is usually 3 days. This can be quicker depending on when you are available for the Energy Assessor to visit.
